Karachi Grammar School (KGS) is one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in Pakistan. Founded in 1847 by Reverend Henry Brereton, the first Chaplain of Karachi, as the Anglo-Indian School, KGS began in his private residence with classes held in his kitchen. In 1854, the school was officially reorganized and renamed “The Kurrachee European and Indo-European School,” later becoming Karachi Grammar School in 1879. The school has a rich history, including the introduction of the house system in 1929 and the opening of the War Memorial Block in 1949
