Founded in 1921 as the Prince of Wales Engineering College, the institution was established to train civil engineers for the Sukkur Barrage project. In 1924, following a generous donation from philanthropist Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw, the college was renamed NED Government Engineering College. After Pakistan’s independence, the Government of Sindh took over its administration in 1947. In 1977, the college was upgraded to NED University of Engineering & Technology under an act of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
