The Sukkur Thermal Power Station, located on the right bank of the Indus River between Sukkur and Rohri, was commissioned in 1965 with assistance from the Canadian government under the Colombo Plan. Initially, it comprised four 12.5 MW units, totaling a generation capacity of 50 MW, which was sufficient to meet the electricity demands of Sukkur and surrounding areas
